Webmix

Hello!

A few weeks ago I created a webmix in Symbaloo and I chose 12 different resources to teach English as a second language to Preschool children. These resources are divided in four different skills (oral skills, games, cross-curriculum, and preparation for written skills) and each group has a different icon.

Oral skills

In the first group, oral skills, I chose a song of the alphabet so children can learn how the letters are pronounced easier, a matching game so they can match the sounds of the letters with the beginnings of words, and a song that teaches how to countdown from ten to one.

Cross-curriculum
In the second group, cross-curriculum, I selected three different exercises to teach the meanings of inside and out, long and short and tall and short. These can be taught with real object in the classroom as a game too. This way children can take part in the exercise and it might be easier for them to learn their meanings.

Written skills

In the third group, written skills, I chose a sheet that teaches children how to write the vocal short a, a video that shows how to write the alphabet and also a game that teaches how to create different words that end with –at. This kind of sheets might be useful for those children who have trouble writing the letters.

Games

In the fourth group, games, I selected three different fun games that teach alphabetical order and numbers.

It is very important that children this age learn the numbers and the letters so they can progress learning English. They need to be taught in a way that learning is fun, and the easiest way to do so is by using games and songs, that is why I chose “Bingo”, “Counting Fish” and “Ten little monkeys”. Nowadays, there are a lot of tools on the Internet and teachers need to find what fits to each Grade and to each group.

I hope you find this webmix useful!
